The USA Today preseason coaches poll was released on Monday, which means the 2025 college football season is just around the corner.

The UW Huskies didn’t crack the top 25, but they are listed as 16th team in the “others receiving votes” category, which means they’re essentially the 41st-ranked team in the poll.
That feels about right for a Washington program that’s on much more stable ground heading into Year 2 under head coach Jedd Fisch. The Huskies went 6-7 last season after losing nearly every starter and the entire coaching staff from the their 2023 national runner-up squad.
Also of note, four of the 12 opponents on the Huskies’ schedule this season are ranked in the top 15 of the poll: No. 2 Ohio State, No. 7 Oregon, No. 12 Illinois and No. 14 Michigan.
Washington hosts defending champion Ohio State on Sept. 27 in its Big Ten opener. The Huskies also host upstart Illinois on Oct. 25 and defending Big Ten champion Oregon in their Nov. 29 regular-season finale.
Washington travels to face Michigan in the Big House on Oct. 18. It will be the teams’ fourth meeting in the past five seasons, including the January 2024 national championship game.
Texas is the top-ranked team in the poll, followed by Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia and Notre Dame.
The WSU Cougars didn’t receive any votes.
The Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll is scheduled to be released on Aug. 11.
