For the third time in his major league career, Seattle Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena is an American League All-Star.

The 31-year-old Arozarena was the lone member of the Mariners named an All-Star when the initial rosters were announced Saturday night.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 14 at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park.

This is Arozarena’s second straight All-Star nomination after he made the AL squad as a replacement for Mariners teammate Julio Rodríguez last year. He also started as the AL’s left fielder in the 2023 All-Star Game in Seattle while a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

This season, Arozarena is hitting .287 with a .376 on-base percentage and .453 slugging percentage for an .829 OPS. He also has nine home runs, 21 doubles and 19 stolen bases in 82 games, having missed eight games last month during an injured list stint for a hamstring strain. He is sixth in MLB in stolen bases and tied for 10th in doubles.

Among AL outfielders, Arozarena ranks first in doubles, second in stolen bases and batting average, tied for second in runs (54), fourth in on-base and OPS, tied for fourth in RBIs (41) and hits (86), and sixth in slugging.

Arozarena certainly put his best foot forward in the hours before the announcement, going 3 for 4 with a grand slam, a double, a walk and three runs scored to help the Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 11-0 on Saturday afternoon at T-Mobile Park. He also made a tumbling catch on a sinking liner to end the fifth inning.

With Arozarena set to be in Philly for the game, there’s a chance he could also compete on Monday, July 13 in the Home Run Derby for a second time. He was the runner-up to Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the 2023 derby.

The last time the Mariners had just one All-Star was in 2021 (Yusei Kikuchi), but there remains the potential for other M’s to be added as replacements for AL All-Stars who are injured or otherwise unavailable for the game.

The contenders from Seattle to receive invitations to Philly over the next 10 days are Rodríguez and fellow outfielder Dominic Canzone, second baseman Cole Young, starting pitchers Bryce Miller and Logan Gilbert, and relievers Gabe Speier and Eduard Bazardo. Rodríguez may prove to not be available, however, as he is currently on the seven-day concussion IL after being hit in the helmet by a throw while running the bases on Thursday.

Soak it in boys and girls! This is the highlight of the Mariners this year. I'm gazing into my crystal ball and I'm not seeing the M's in any post season games. That will be $20 please.
