SEATTLE – The Seattle Mariners are unsure when right-hander Bryan Woo will make his next start, but they don’t think he will need a stint on the injured list.

‘Extremely exciting’: Kade Anderson joins M’s before anticipated debut

After leaving his most recent outing on Aug. 16 early following just 75 pitches with right shoulder soreness, Woo was scratched from his scheduled Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, a game that will now feature the MLB debut of top pitching prospect Kade Anderson.

“Bryan just needed a couple of extra days coming out of that start in Houston,” manager Dan Wilson said. “Couple extra days to recover and we’ll figure out in the next day or so when we’ll slot Bryan in for his next start.”

Wilson said that Woo’s shoulder issue did not require imaging. He added that the right-hander likely wouldn’t need to be skipped for a full turn through the rotation, which should put Woo in line to pitch during the upcoming series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which begins Monday at T-Mobile Park. Right-hander Bryce Miller is slated to start Sunday’s series finale against the Cubs.

Woo has a 9-8 record with a 4.10 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 137 strikeouts to 29 walks in 138 1/3 innings over 24 starts this season.

Latest on J.P. Crawford

Infielder J.P. Crawford will remain on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma through the weekend as he continues to work his way back from left wrist inflammation that landed him on the IL July 30.

Crawford went 0 for 3 at the plate in the first game of his rehab Thursday night. He had the night off Friday but is expected to play for the Rainiers on Saturday and Sunday.

Wilson said Crawford will rejoin the club on Monday to be evaluated.
