The Seattle Seahawks released veteran cornerback Trevon Diggs and subsequently signed him to the practice squad Friday, while wide receiver Irvin Charles was signed off the practice squad to the active roster.

As a vested veteran, Diggs did not have to go through waivers to sign onto Seattle’s practice squad.

Charles, an offseason trade acquisition from the New York Jets, made his Seahawks debut last week, appearing in 15 snaps on special teams and making one tackle in a loss at Denver.

Charles began the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with an undisclosed injury. The 29-year-old wideout appeared in 15 career NFL games with the Jets between 2023 and 2024 before coming to Seattle.

Diggs, who was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and 2022 with the Dallas Cowboys, began the season on the Seahawks’ practice squad and signed to the active roster on Oct. 10 when rookie corner Julian Neal was placed on injured reserve. Diggs has played in each of the last three games, registering one tackle in 21 defensive snaps and two snaps on special teams.

The 28-year-old Diggs was a second-round NFL Draft pick in 2020 out of Alabama by Dallas. Though he shined in his first three seasons, he has been hindered by injuries for much of his career since. He was waived last December by the Cowboys and claimed by the Green Bay Packers, who then released him after the season.

The Seahawks signed Diggs out of free agency in August, then signed him to the practice squad on Sept. 1 after he cleared waivers.
