Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley has advanced to the second round of interviews for the Minnesota Vikings’ GM opening, according to a report from CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones on Wednesday.
How much could Darnold’s next deal cost the Seahawks?
Teasley is one of five candidates to reach the second round of interviews, according to Jones. The others are Vikings interim GM Rob Brzezinski, Denver Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt, Buffalo Bills assistant GM Terrance Gray and Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay.
If the Vikings hire Teasley, the Seahawks would receive a compensatory third-round pick in each of the next two NFL Drafts, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
But on the flip side, the Seahawks would lose a key member of their front office.
Teasley is entering his 14th season working under Seahawks GM John Schneider – including his fourth as the organization’s assistant GM. Prior to his current role, Teasley spent five seasons as the Seahawks’ director of pro personnel, one season as assistant director of pro personnel and three seasons as a pro personnel scout.
“I don’t know who’s got more boxes they check than Nolan Teasley,” former NFL quarterback Brock Huard said on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk. “Like, he’s done everything right alongside John, and he’s seen it done at a very, very, very high level.”
That being said, if the Seahawks do end up losing Teasley, Huard is confident Schneider has more talent waiting in the wings.
“Unlike a lot of organizations that don’t train and develop people, this organization does,” Huard said. “… I know that John prepares for this and cultivates his front office so that when a Nolan Teasley is lost, you move someone up from within.”
