By all accounts, the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have a relatively challenging schedule this fall.

Seven things that stand out about Seahawks’ 2026 schedule

Seattle’s 2026 opponents combined for a .514 win percentage last season, which equates to the 14th-hardest schedule in the league, according to the NFL. That’s a slight uptick from 2025, when the Seahawks had the 17th-hardest schedule with a .498 opponents’ win percentage.

Furthermore, Seattle will play nine games this fall against teams that won 11-plus games last season. That’s also an increase from 2025, when the Seahawks faced six teams that won 11-plus games.

However, one area that appears to be in Seattle’s favor this year is its overall rest differential.

The Seahawks have a plus-nine rest differential for the 2026 season, which is tied for the fourth-biggest advantage in the league, according to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis. Seattle also had a favorable plus-eight rest differential in 2025, which ranked fifth in the league.

So, what is rest differential?

It measures how many additional (or fewer) days of rest a team has compared to its opponent heading into a particular matchup. For instance, let’s say Team A is facing Team B. If Team A has 10 days of rest heading into the matchup and Team B has just the standard seven days of rest, then Team A would have a plus-3 rest differential and Team B would have a minus-3 rest differential. A team’s overall rest differential is the sum of its rest differential for every game in a season.

And why does rest differential matter? For one, football is an incredibly taxing sport on the body, so extra days of rest can mean a healthier and fresher team on gameday. In addition, teams can gain an edge by having more time to prepare and fine-tune their game plans.

Breaking down Seahawks’ 2026 rest differential

Here’s a closer look at Seattle’s rest differential for the upcoming season. The Seahawks have five games where they have a rest advantage and four games where they have a rest disadvantage.

• +7 rest differential: Week 12 at San Francisco 49ers (Seattle has a bye in Week 11)

• +4 rest differential: Week 2 at Arizona Cardinals (Seattle plays on Wednesday night in Week 1)

• +3 rest differential: Week 7 vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Seattle plays on Thursday night in Week 6)

• +2 rest differential: Week 17 vs. Carolina Panthers (Seattle plays on Friday night in Week 16)*

• +1 rest differential: Week 16 vs. Los Angeles Rams (Seattle plays on Saturday in Week 15)

• -1 rest differential: Week 9 vs. Arizona Cardinals (Seattle plays on Monday night in Week 8)

• -1 rest differential: Week 14 vs. New York Giants (Seattle plays on Monday night in Week 13)

• -3 rest differential: Week 8 vs. Chicago Bears (Chicago plays on Thursday night in Week 7)

• -3 rest differential: Week 13 vs. Dallas Cowboys (Dallas plays on Thursday night in Week 12)

* NOTE: Carolina’s Week 16 game is dependent on the NFL’s late-season flexible scheduling procedures, which could result in the game being played on a day other than Sunday. But for the moment, we’ll assume Carolina will play on Sunday in Week 16.
