JSN’s Offensive Player of the Year award features glaring mistake

After a spectacular 2025 campaign, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

But that’s not what his award says.

Smith-Njigba posted a video on Instagram Monday night that showed his award, which reads: “2025 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THEYEAR.”

This comes in addition to comedian Druski badly mispronouncing Smith-Njigba’s name while announcing the award at the NFL Honors award show during Super Bowl week this past February.

In the Instagram video, Smith-Njigba began by showing his award and saying: “I really want to expose them. It’s getting disrespectful, guys.”

Smith-Njigba then pointed to the word “DEFENSIVE” and said: “Defense? C’mon bro.”

After that, Smith-Njigba pointed to “THEYEAR” and said: “One word? Man.”

Smith-Njigba then posted a photo with the caption: “Just keep the award at this point. Leave it in the history books tho.”

While the Associated Press handles the voting for the NFL awards, the NFL makes the trophies, according to Pro Football Talk.

Smith-Njigba led the NFL with a franchise-record 1,793 receiving yards this past season, which was the eighth-most in a single season in league history. He became just the third NFL player to top 1,700 receiving yards at age 23 or younger, joining Isaac Bruce and Justin Jefferson. Smith-Njigba also tallied a franchise-record 119 receptions and 10 touchdown catches.
