UW Huskies flip touted OL recruit from rival Oregon

Landing a commitment from a five-star prospect is a significant accomplishment for any program. It becomes even bigger when it’s a prospect with ties to the area who flipped from a rival school, which is exactly what just happened for the UW Huskies.

Report: UW Huskies land commitment from 2026 four-star QB

Greg Biggins of 247Sports.com reported Thursday that class of 2026 offensive lineman Kodi Greene flipped his commitment from Oregon to UW. Greene later confirmed the report with a social media post.

Greene is a four-star recruit ranked as the 25th overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the country, according to 247sports. ESPN rates Greene as a four-star recruit and No. 37 overall in the nation.

Greene began his high school playing career at Class 3A powerhouse Eastside Catholic in Sammamish. He transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., prior to the 2024 season.

The flip marked a change in a recent trend of top offensive lineman from the state of Washington going to Oregon. In 2022, five-star recurit Josh Conerly Jr. (Rainier Beach) and four-star recruit David Iuli (Puyallup) signed with Oregon. In 2024, four-star lineman Fox Crader (Evergreen-Vancouver) signed with the Ducks. And this year, four-star prospect Demetri Manning (Bellevue) also signed with Oregon.

Greene is the highest-rated recruit and first offensive lineman from the class of 2026 to give his pledge to the Huskies. UW’s 2026 recruiting class, which features nine commits, is ranked 19th in the country by 247Sports.

A 6 foot 6, 285-pounder, Greene also held offers from Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M and many others. His player comparison on 247Sports is Conerly, who is projected as a first-to-second-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

Greene’s older brother, Kayden, is a safety on the UW roster.
