Seahawks unveil new ‘Rivalries’ alternate uniform

The wolf grey is back – with a twist.

The Seattle Seahawks unveiled their “Rivalries” alternate uniform on Thursday morning, revealing a “wolf grey and iridescent green” combination that will be worn for their Week 16 home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The unforms feature wolf grey jerseys and pants, along with iridescent green numbers that reflect differently based on how light hits them. The helmet is also iridescent green with a metallic chrome finish.

The uniform includes a “soundwave” pattern on the shoulders and down the pantlegs, which represents the noise that reverberates onto the field from the Seahawks’ famously loud fanbase, according to a press release. There’s also a “12s” patch and a “12” pattern in the jersey numbers that will reflect in the light. The helmet bumpers will have the phrase “12 As One” on the back of the helmet.

The Seahawks are among the first eight teams – along with the rest of the NFC West and the AFC North – in the NFL’s “Rivalries” uniform rollout. Each team will wear their new uniform for one home game this season against a division rival. The other seven “Rivalries” uniforms, which also were unveiled Thursday morning, can be seen here.

The NFL said in a press release that the uniforms “celebrate storied local traditions” and “unite fan communities” with designs unique to their teams.

“The Rivalries program is about celebrating what makes our team and city unique,” Seahawks managing director of marketing Allison Hoover said. “Without question, that’s the 12s. This uniform is a tribute to the 12s, the loudest, most passionate fans in sports. When opposing teams come to Lumen Field, they not only face fierce competition on the field, but also the high-decibels of the 12s in the stands.”

Teams will only wear their “Rivalries” uniform at home, which means the Rams will be wearing their regular uniform set when they visit Seattle for the Week 16 matchup on Dec. 18.

Interestingly, each of the other three NFC West teams are wearing their “Rivalries” uniforms against the Seahawks. The Arizona Cardinals will debut their “Rivalries” uniforms against Seattle on Sept. 25, the Rams will wear theirs against the Seahawks on Nov. 16 and the San Francisco 49ers will don theirs against Seattle in the Week 18 regular-season finale.

The rest of the league’s teams will debut their “Rivalries” uniforms over the next three seasons.
