The reports on Sam Darnold’s injury make Salk ‘a little nervous’
"No one seems to be entirely in agreement, which in and of itself actually makes me a little nervous," Salk said.

The injury that knocked quarterback Sam Darnold out of the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 1 win over the New England Patriots has gone through some twists and turns in the five days since.
Rodney Thomas II embodies Seahawks’ 70-man mantra
For starters, it is no longer being termed a hip injury by NFL insiders, but instead a glute injury.
Secondly, those insiders seem to be torn on just how serious of an injury it is.
“My understanding is Sam Darnold is going to be out next week and then we’ll see,” Ian Rapoport said Sunday morning on NFL Network’s NFL Gameday. “So probably a couple games was the description given to me. We will see if he’s able to get there for Week 3 against the Commanders. We’ve been calling it a hip injury. My understanding is it’s actually a glute injury, so Darnold hurt his butt. It’s a muscular injury not considered to be major.”
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, meanwhile, reported that Darnold could be out four to six weeks.
The uncertainty with Darnold doesn’t sit well with Seattle Sports’ Mike Salk.
“No one seems to be entirely in agreement, which in and of itself actually makes me a little nervous,” Salk said on Monday’s edition of Brock and Salk (hear it in Need To Know, the second segment of the podcast at this link). “This is one of those injuries that feels very difficult to diagnose.”
Salk: What Sam Darnold’s injury means for Seahawks season
Salk’s co-host, longtime FOX football broadcaster and former NFL QB Brock Huard, agreed about the last point but did provide a helpful roadmap for what may be in store for the Seahawks and their QB situation.
“This is a tendon. This is a ligament. This is something around that hip into the glute area,” Huard explained. “I will say this: there will be a tell, whether it’s today or tomorrow, and that is do they bring quarterbacks in to work out? And then the other tell would be, do they put him on (injured reserve)? … Because that would tell you if Florio’s right, if it’s four to six weeks, then he would be on IR this week.
“So you could create a roster spot and get somebody in here. And if he’s not on IR and he doesn’t go on IR, then it’s probably a week-to-week deal closer to what others have reported.”
For the time being, all signs point to backup Drew Lock receiving the start for the Seahawks in Week 2 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, an NFC West division rival who like the Hawks are 1-0.
