Seahawks set practice squad, which includes the 2 draft picks they cut

The Seattle Seahawks cut two of their 2025 NFL Draft picks when they trimmed their roster down to 53 on Tuesday, but they didn’t lose either of them.

What stands out from Seahawks’ 53-man roster decisions

The Seahawks announced Wednesday their initial practice squad, which includes running back Damien Martinez and wide receiver Ricky White III, both of whom Seattle took in the seventh round of the draft in April.

The Seahawks did not have any of the players that were cut Tuesday claimed on waivers by other teams.

Martinez, who began his college career at Oregon State, ran for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior for Miami last year, and ranked third in FBS with 4.46 yards after contact per attempt.

White set a UNLV program record with 1,483 receiving yards in 2023 and won Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year last season after blocking four punts, which not only led FBS but was more than any other team.

Other notable players that Seattle was able to push onto the practice squad are linebacker Jamie Sheriff, who appeared in two NFL games last season, fourth-year defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna, and safety and 2023 sixth-round Seahawks pick Jerrick Reed II.
