Seattle Seahawks announce new jersey numbers for several players

Step one of the NFL offseason is filling out the roster. Step two is… figuring out the jersey numbers for everybody after the influx of new players, right?

If that’s the case, the Seattle Seahawks can check step two off their to-do list, as they announced the numbers for several new key players on Tuesday, as well as some changes for a few returning players.

We already knew perhaps the most notable jersey number situation for Seattle – new wide receiver Cooper Kupp gets to be his customary No. 10, with outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu giving up the number to the Yakima native and former NFL Offensive Player of the Year. In exchange for the number, Kupp donated to the foundation of Nwosu, who will now be No. 7.

Here’s a full look at the new numbers the Seahawks revealed Tuesday for 13 offseason additions and four returning players.

• Cornerback JT Woods – No. 35
• Tackle Sala Aumavae-Laulu – No. 70
• Tackle Josh Jones – No. 74
• Tight end Eric Saubert – No. 81
• Wide receiver Steven Sims – No. 84
• Wide receiver River Cracraft – No. 85

Changed jersey numbers

• Quarterback Sam Howell – No. 2 (previously No. 6)
• Linebacker Uchenna Nwosu – No. 7 (previously No. 10)
• Linebacker Josh Ross – No. 47 (previously No. 18)
• Center Olu Oluwatimi – No. 55 (previously No. 51)

More new jersey numbers are still to come for the Seahawks. The NFL Draft is set for this week beginning with the first round on Thursday, and the Seahawks own 10 selections over the three-day event, including five of the first 92 overall picks.
