After waiver mix up, former Seahawks O-lineman lands with Dolphins

Baltimore originally said it had claimed Christian Haynes off waivers. But it was actually Miami who got the third-year guard.

The Baltimore Ravens claimed former Seattle Seahawks guard Christian Haynes off waivers – or at least they thought they did.

The Ravens on Wednesday announced they had claimed Haynes off waivers. However, it turns out that the Miami Dolphins had also put in a waiver claim for Haynes and were in front of the Ravens in the order, thus Miami has been awarded the third-year offensive lineman a day after he was cut by the Seahawks.

Haynes, a third-round pick in the 2024 draft, appeared in all seven games and made five starts for Seattle this season, with all of those starts coming in place of injured right guard Anthony Bradford.

During his five starts, Haynes split time with rookie Beau Stephens at right guard. Over 210 offensive snaps, he allowed 11 pressures and one sack and committed no penalties. Haynes ranked 44th out of 74 guards with a 59.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

A UConn product, Haynes appeared 25 games over three seasons with the Seahawks.

Haynes was waived on Tuesday to make room for guard Quenton Nelson on the 53-man roster following Seattle’s trade with the Indianapolis Colts for the six-time All-Pro.

With the departure of Haynes, four of the Seahawks’ eight picks from the 2024 draft – the first under head coach Mike Macdonald – are no longer on the roster.
