UW Huskies women’s basketball finishes season in AP Top 25

The UW Huskies women’s basketball team finished No. 25 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll of the season, which was released Monday after the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament.

It marks Washington’s first AP Top 25 finish since program legend Kelsey Plum’s senior season in 2017.

Under fifth-year head coach Tina Langley, UW went 22-11 overall and 10-8 in Big Ten play this season. The sixth-seeded Huskies advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017, beating 11th-seeded South Dakota State 72-54 in the first round before suffering a 62-59 overtime loss to third-seeded Texas Christian in the round of 32.

After guiding the Huskies to their first 20-win campaign since 2017, Langley agreed to a contract extension last week that keeps her on Montlake through the 2031-32 season.

Washington was one of eight Big Ten teams to finish in the Top 25. UCLA was the unanimous No. 1 team after routing South Carolina in Sunday’s national championship game to complete a 37-1 campaign.
