Two Mariners in the mix in first All-Star ballot update

The AL West-leading Seattle Mariners have a couple of players vying for a starting spot in the upcoming 2026 MLB All-Star Game.

Outfielders Julio Rodríguez and Randy Arozarena rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the first All-Star ballot update provided by MLB.com on Monday.

Mariners make first of what will be multiple roster moves

Phase 1 of All-Star voting will run until noon on Thursday, June 25.

The All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Rodríguez had 421,205 votes at the time of the ballot update Monday, just ahead of Arozarena at 412,273. Rodríguez is right on the heels of fifth-place Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers, but still has a good amount of ground to make up to get into the top three and earn a starting nod.

Yankees star Aaron Judge leads all AL outfielders with 977,460 votes, with the Angels’ Mike Trout (926,601) and the Yankees’ Cody Bellinger (533,842) currently holding the other starting outfield spots.

The 25-year-old Rodríguez is a three-time All-Star but has never won a starting spot. This year, he has a .248/.311/.429 slash line for a .739 OPS with 13 home runs, 14 doubles, nine stolen bases and 1.9 bWAR.

Arozarena, 31, is a two-time All-Star, including in 2023 when he started in left field for the American League at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park while a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. This year, he’s slashing .291/.377/.448 for an .826 OPS with seven home runs, 18 doubles, a triple, 19 stolen bases and 2.5 bWAR.

Dodgers pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani leads all players in All-Star voting with 1,165,133. Astros DH Yordan Alvarez is leading all AL players with 1,015,768.
