The Seattle Mariners recalled right-handed reliever Casey Legumina from Triple-A Tacoma and designated left-handed reliever José Castillo for assignment in a corresponding move Friday.

The moves come after Seattle’s bullpen has had to cover 19 2/3 innings over the past three games, which included extra-innings contests the past two nights.

Legumina is rejoining the team after spending the past three weeks with the Rainiers. The 28 year old has a 4-6 record with a 5.79 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings over 45 appearances in the majors this season. He allowed just one unearned run and five hits while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings over six appearances in his recent stint with Tacoma.

The 29-year-old Castillo’s brief stint on the Mariners’ big league roster is done after just three appearances. Castillo, who was acquired off waivers from the New York Mets on Sept. 3, allowed an unearned run, three hits, two walks and struck out one in three innings of work with Seattle. He pitched the 12th inning to pick up the win in Thursday night’s victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Mariners are the third team Castillo has pitched for this season. He has a 2-2 record with a 4.38 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings over 24 big league outings this season.
