No roster move expected today
Mariners shortstop Brad Miller is struggling but most likely will be given a little more time before a move is made.

MINNEAPOLIS – The Mariners’ first day off in 17 days was spent traveling to Minnesota. The team, its offense in particular, appeared to run out of gas in the final stretch so it will be interesting to see if the day away from the park and cages does some of the hitters good.
Forty games in at 20-20 appears to still be a little too soon to make sweeping judgments of what this club is. Manager Lloyd McClendon refuses to answer the question until the get to 50. General manager Jack Zdurinecik told 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Brock and Danny” Wednesday that they typically break the season into thirds when making evaluations with moves in mind, and we are not quite to that point, either.
Shortstop, of course, is the position that is under scrutiny right now with Brad Miller continuing to struggle. I wouldn’t expect any move with Miller quite yet, however. The depth at the position took a hit when Chris Taylor jammed the fingers on his left hand while stealing second Tuesday in the Rainiers’ game against Reno. He is on the seven-day disabled list and not expected to miss much time.
Other news that could impact the Mariners involves the Rangers. By now you have probably heard but if not, Texas has taken a huge hit to its rotation, losing both Matt Harrison and Martin Perez. Harrison has been suffering back problems that will require spinal fusion surgery at some point and Perez has a partial tear of the UCL.
