Mariners’ Josh Naylor returns after sitting with quad tightness

Josh Naylor is back in the Seattle Mariners’ lineup a day after sitting out with quad tightness.

Naylor is in his usual spots as the cleanup hitter and playing first base as the M’s open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins facing left-hander Connor Prielipp on Monday at Target Field.

Naylor had been on a heater before being held out of the lineup on Sunday. Over his past seven games, he’s hitting .480 (12 for 25) with 1.213 OPS, one homer, four stolen bases and four walks to five strikeouts.

However, Naylor’s return could have to wait a day. Monday’s series opener is in danger of being postponed by weather in Minneapolis, with the forecast calling for rain throughout much of the evening.

The rest of the Mariners’ lineup includes Rob Refnsyder in the leadoff spot following his go-ahead, pinch-hit home run in the the ninth inning of Sunday’s 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Cal Raleigh is also getting a night off from behind the plate and serving as the designated hitter. Mitch Garver is starting at catcher and batting seventh.
