Mariners in another weather delay against Orioles

Update: The Mariners and Orioles are set to resume play at 2 p.m. (5 p.m. in Baltimore), per Seattle Sports Mariners insider Shannon Drayer.

The Seattle Mariners are dealing with a weather delay in Baltimore for the second day in a row. However, this time in came in the middle of their game with the Orioles.

Thursday’s matchup between the Mariners and Orioles was suspended in the top of the sixth inning due to heavy rainfall. The Mariners trailed 5-0 and had a runner on first with out and Julio Rodriguez at the plate in a 1-1 count against Baltimore starter Tomoyuki Sugano.

The grounds crew at Camden Yards temporarily removed the tarp from the infield to work on drying the infield after the delay, but the tarp went back on the field with more rain and thunderstorms expected in the area.

According to Accuweather.com, heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT). The weather is expected to clear up, with chances of rain dropping below 30% by 5 p.m. local time.

If the game does not resume, it can be considered official since five full innings have been completed and the game is not tied.

The start Wednesday’s game between the Mariners and Orioles was delayed by an hour and 40 minutes due to weather.
