Mariners OF Victor Robles doubles in 1st rehab at-bat

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles began his rehab assignment in style.

Farm Report: M’s promote touted prospect, another hits 1st Double-A HR

In his first at-bat since in more than four months, Robles lined a double into the right-center-field gap in the first inning of Triple-A Tacoma’s game against Las Vegas on Tuesday night. Robles, who was Tacoma’s designated hitter, finished the night 1 for 2 after grounding out and getting hit by a pair of pitches.

Robles has been working his way back from a fractured humeral head and dislocated shoulder, which he suffered while crashing into the right-field netting to make a highlight-reel catch on April 6 at San Francisco’s Oracle Park.

The Mariners anticipate Robles will need at least 40 to 50 at-bats before he’s ready to be activated from the injured list.

Robles, who signed with Seattle in June 2024 after being released by the Washington Nationals, was a revelation for the Mariners last season. The former top prospect hit .328/.393/.467 in 77 games with Seattle last year, while totaling four home runs, 20 doubles, 30 stolen bases, an .860 OPS and a 155 OPS+. It earned him a two-year contract extension last August, which solidified him as a key part of the club’s plans going forward.

Raley homers again

Mariners outfielder/first baseman Luke Raley homered for the second straight game in his rehab stint with Tacoma.

Raley blasted a 439-foot homer on Tuesday night against Las Vegas after hitting a grand slam in Sunday’s game against Reno. Over three games with Tacoma, Raley is 4 for 12 with two homers and seven strikeouts.

Raley was placed on the injured list on July 30 with back spasms. It’s the second time he’s been on the IL this season, as he also missed nearly two months with a right oblique strain.

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said last week that Raley would need at least two or three games in the minors before returning to the big league roster.

Raley has struggled through an injury-plagued season, slashing .220/.343/.348 with four homers and a .691 OPS. He was one of Seattle’s best hitters last year, when he batted .243 with 22 homers and a .783 OPS.
