The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly agreed on a three-year contract with Carroll to be come their next head coach.

Could the legendary Seattle coach pull from the Seahawks and perhaps even the UW Huskies to help rebuild the long-struggling Raiders? Seattle Sports’ Bump and Stacy pondered that question just hours after the Carroll to Las Vegas news broke.

“Is there anyone with this (Seahawks) team that you’re like, ‘Man, this makes me wonder if they might be more tempted to go to Vegas,'” co-host Stacy Rost asked Michael Bumpus, a Seahawks Radio Network analyst.

Bumpus, a former NFL wide receiver, was quick to point out veteran receiver Tyler Lockett, who has one more year left on his contract but could be on his way out of Seattle anyways as the team attempts to shed salary this offseason.

“You gotta look at the guys who contracts are up or about to be up. I think it starts with Tyler Lockett, honestly,” Bumpus said. “I mean, he’s an aging receiver, but he’s the type of guy that can bring Pete Carroll’s culture to Vegas.”

Lockett has spent the past 10 seasons in Seattle since Carroll and general manager John Schneider selected him in the third round of the 2015 draft. The Kansas State product has developed into one of the most decorated receivers in franchise history since, but he’s fallen into the No. 3 receiver role in Seattle with DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba now headlining the group.

“I think he still got some good football left in him,” Bumpus said. “I don’t think he’s a No. 1 receiver, but I think he still give you 700 yards, four to six touchdowns and 50 to 60 receptions. He’s still got it in him. It’s just if he wants to go to Vegas and play for Pete Carroll.”

Rost also wondered if UW could see another coordinator leave to take a job on his dad’s staff. Carroll’s son Brennan is the offensive coordinator for the Huskies and previously spent seven seasons on his dad’s staff in Seattle, serving as an offensive assistant, assistant offensive line coach and run game coordinator. UW already saw defensive coordinator Steve Belichick, the son of legendary coach Bill Belichick, leave the program to join his father’s staff at North Carolina.

“He’s for sure hitting up his sons, both of them,” said Bumpus, referencing Nate Carroll, another former Seahawks assistant.

However, Bumpus doesn’t believe Brennan Carroll would be the first option for the offensive coordinator role.

“I think that if he is OC, that’s not plan A. It’s B or C,” Bumpus said. “Good OCs are hard to find. Good coaches are hard to find in general, but I would not be surprised if I see both Carrolls over there in Las Vegas with their dad.”

More Seattle connections Carroll could tap

Bumpus said Carroll will be “pulling from everywhere” as he attempts to fill out his staff and build a roster in Las Vegas. That could include former Seahawks linebacker KJ Wright, who joined San Francisco’s staff as a defensive quality control coach in 2024.

Another name Bumpus brought up is former Seahawks defensive back Neiko Thorpe, who Carroll brought on as an intern coach in Seattle in 2022 before promoting him to a defensive assistant the following season.
