If Seahawks starting running back Chris Carson has trouble holding on to the ball for the fourth straight week, it won’t be Rashaad Penny that Seattle turns to.
Clayton’s Keys: Seahawks facing 5 days that will define their season
That’s because Penny is inactive for the second week in a row with a hamstring strain, leaving C.J. Prosise to be Carson’s backup. This will be the fourth game missed by Penny since the Seahawks selected him with their first-round draft choice in 2018.
Penny was questionable on Seattle’s final injury report on Friday, as was defensive end Ziggy Ansah (back), defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson (hip) and cornerback Neiko Thorpe (hamstring). Ansah and Jefferson are both active for Sunday’s game at Arizona, however, while Thorpe joins Penny on the inactive list.
This is Ansah’s second game in a Seahawks uniform. He was quiet in his team debut last week after a long recovery from shoulder surgery that ended his 2018 season with the Lions.
Here’s the Seahawks’ full inactive list:
• FS Adrian Colbert
• WR John Ursua
• WR Gary Jennings
• RB Rashaad Penny
• CB Neiko Thorpe
• FS Marquise Blair
• C/G Ethan Pocic
And here’s the Cardinals’ inactive list:
• P Andy Lee
• WR Damiere Byrd
• S Charles Washington
• OL Lamont Gaillard
• OL Josh Miles
• OL Brett Toth
• DL Michael Dogbe
Notable for Arizona is the absence of punter Andy Lee. Ryan Winslow was promoted from the practice squad this weekend with Lee dealing with a hip flexor injury.
