Seahawks place rookie Bud Clark, OL Mason Richman on IR; sign 3 players

The Seattle Seahawks placed rookie safety Bud Clark and second-year offensive lineman Mason Richman on injured reserve Tuesday, ending the seasons for both players.

Clark suffered a broken ankle on the Seahawks’ first defensive snap and was carted off the field in their 19-16 preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans. Richman also sustained a serious injury during the contest on Seattle’s opening touchdown drive.

Clark, a second-round pick in the 2026 draft, figured to be a part of the Seahawks’ defensive back rotation following a standout college career at TCU. The 24-year-old safety had three tackles in Seattle’s preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 15. He racked up 15 interceptions, including two pick-sixes, over 61 career college games.

Richman was a seventh-round pick out of Iowa in 2025. The backup offensive lineman appeared in two games for the Seahawks last season, logging one snap on offense and 11 on special teams.

Seahawks sign three players

In addition to moving Clark and Richman to the IR, the Seahawks signed offensive tackle Derrick Graham, safety Tysheem Johnson and running back Justin Jones to fill the three open spots on their 90-man roster.

Graham, 24, went undrafted after earning All-American Conference third-team honors in 2025. He was signed by the Houston Texans on June 2 and cut on Aug. 2.

Johnson, 23, went undrafted out of Oregon last year. He spent time with the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons last season. In four college seasons at Oregon and Ole Miss, Johnson amassed 15 tackles for loss, 11 passes defended, six interceptions and two sacks.

Jones, 25, is back for his second stint with the Seahawks this preseason. The Auburn product was initially signed as undrafted free agent on Aug. 8 before being released Aug. 17. He had one carry for three yards in Seattle’s preseason opener. Over four college seasons at Auburn, Jones rushed for 110 yards on 16 carries.
