Mariners roster move updates: Claim Andy Wilkins, send prospect to Texas

12:20 update: The Mariners announced they have sent infielder Patrick Kivlehan to the Rangers as the player to be named later to complete the trade for outfielder Leonys Martin. Their 40-man roster is now at 39.

A quick update on moves the Mariners have made on Wednesday, those that have not been made and a look at their 40-man roster.

As of 11:30 Wednesday, the Nori Aoki signing is still pending a physical. The Mark Trumbo trade has also yet to be officially announced but sources confirm what Bob Dutton of The News Tribune was first to report, that reliever C.J. Riefenhauser will also be sent to the Orioles in exchange for catcher Steve Clevenger.

The Mariners have claimed first baseman Andy Wilkins off waivers from the Orioles. Wilkins, 27, has hit .272/.343/.474/.818 in six minor league seasons. To make room for Wilkins on the 40-man roster, pitcher Edgar Olmos has been designated for assignment. Catcher John Hicks, who was designated for assignment a week ago, has been claimed by the Twins.

With the move, the 40-man roster is at 40. To get Aoki, Clevenger and reliever Justin DeFratus – whom the team has signed, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com – one more move will have to be made.
