Earl Thomas is most likely done for the season and has perhaps played his last game for the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a fractured lower left leg in Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Thomas wasn’t the only player the Seahawks appear to have lost for the season after Sunday’s game. Both the All-Pro free safety and rookie tight end Will Dissly were carted off the field in Arizona.

Thomas left the game in the fourth quarter on a cart with his left leg in an air cast. Head coach Pete Carroll said during his postgame press conference that Thomas has a fracture in his leg. Dissly was carted off in the first half due to an injury Carroll sai was to Dissly’s patellar tendon.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Thomas suffered a clean break, which is about as good of news as you can get about a broken leg.

Rapoport also reports that Dissly is believed to have torn his patellar tendon, the same injury that ended former Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham’s 2015 season.

Thomas suffered his injury trying to get to Arizona wide receiver Chad Williams on a 22-yard touchdown reception with 9:07 left to play. Injuries have mounted in recent years for the six-time Pro Bowler; Thomas suffered a previous season-ending fracture to the same left leg in 2016 and then missed two games last year with other injuries.

Thomas, 29, is set to be a free agent after this season. In the hopes of receiving a contract extension, he staged a well-publicized holdout throughout the offseason and preseason, returning to the Seahawks just before Week 1 of the regular season. One of the believed sticking points for the Seahawks in not extending Thomas’ contract is their previous bad luck with season-ending injuries to players on extensions, including Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril all last season. Coincidentally, the injuries to Sherman and Chancellor came on the same field in Arizona last year as Thomas’ injury Sunday.

The FOX broadcast of the game showed Thomas giving the middle finger apparently to be the Seahawks’ bench while he was being carted away.
