Mariners’ Cal Raleigh reveals special Rick Rizzs chest protector he will wear

Cal Raleigh has a special tribute for Rick Rizzs, the retiring radio voice of the Seattle Mariners: a chest protector that pays tribute to the legendary play-by-play announcer.

Raleigh revealed the chest protector to Rizzs as they met to film the season finale of Seattle Sports’ Cal Raleigh Show, which will air at 4 p.m. Thursday during Wyman and Bob.

Rizzs is calling his final games as voice of the Mariners this week. He will retire after Sunday’s finale, bringing an end to his 52-year career as a professional baseball broadcaster, 41 of which have been with the Mariners.

The Mariners are celebrating Rick Rizzs Farewell Weekend during the last three games of their season-ending series at T-Mobile Park against the Los Angeles Angels. Friday will be Rick Rizzs Fireworks Night with a postgame fireworks show honoring Rizzs that is open to all fans in attendance. Rizzs will throw out the first pitch before Saturday’s 6:40 p.m. game, and Sunday will be Rick Rizzs Celebration Day.
