Mariners Injury Report: Brendan Donovan, Matt Brash, Colt Emerson, more

The Seattle Mariners are still playing the final week of the MLB regular season, but they have a number of players on the injured list who are looking to get healthy in time for offseason work.

Seattle Mariners’ Andrés Muñoz OK after exiting Sunday with injury concern

M’s general manager Justin Hollander provided a list of injury updates prior to Tuesday’s series opener at T-Mobile Park against the Houston Astros. Here’s a look at what he shared.

Brendan Donovan

Seattle’s key trade acquisition going into the 2026 season has been limited to just 39 games this season due to three stints on the injured list, with the current one due to a concussion suffered on Aug. 17.

Hollander said the 29-year-old Donovan has made “real progress” in the last week and was scheduled to see a concussion specialist again Wednesday.

“He’s doing well. We are hopeful that he’ll be clear to resume baseball activities at the end of the season,” Hollander said. “Obviously he’s not going to play this week. It’s been a while, but he’s doing well.

“My understanding is he made real progress over the last week or so. So we’re getting closer and hopefully we can head to the offseason in a good place, healthy and ready to do normal baseball activities that he would otherwise do in the offseason.”

Donovan slashed .277/.371/.409 for a .780 OPS with three home runs, seven doubles, a triple and 15 walks to 23 strikeouts this season. An All-Star utility player with St. Louis in 2025, he almost exclusively played third base in 2026. He is under club control with Seattle through 2027.

Matt Brash

Brash, 28, is in Arizona and recently received a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection in his injured right lat. Hollander said he’ll start his normal offseason program “something like eight weeks after the season,” and that he imagines “there would be an MRI at that time just to make sure that the rest and PRP has promoted the kind of healing they were hoping for.”

The Mariners’ bullpen has certainly missed the right-handed Brash (0.54 ERA, 0.84 WHIP in 20 appearances) since he’s been out with lat inflammation dating back to early June.

Emerson Hancock

Seattle’s breakout starting pitcher this year, Hancock (3.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP in 25 starts) has been out since late August with a left adductor strain.

Hollander said the 27-year-old righty “continues to make progress” and could potentially return before the end of the season.

“I think it’s probably unlikely that he starts another game this season,” Hollander said. “Not ruling out the idea he could pitch an inning this weekend or something like that, depending on how he feels and whether there’s value in that, but wouldn’t anticipate this affecting his offseason whatsoever.”

• Rookie shortstop Colt Emerson is in Arizona and “doing well in his rehab” after undergoing wrist surgery.

• Outfielder Luke Raley (forearm) is “doing well” and is set for “normal offseason rehab” after underdoing flexor surgery. Raley, who just turned 32, has two years of club control remaining on his contract.

• It is not expected that rookie reliever Nick Davila (SC joint sprain in right shoulder) will have his spring training impacted. Hollander said Davila is rehabbing at home and will report to Arizona “at some point to get checked on.”

• Reliever Cole Wilcox (oblique) is “hoping to touch the mound on Saturday.” Hollander said Wilcox won’t appear in a game before the season ends but is “recovering well.”

• Outfielder Brennan Davis (oblique, hamstring) is in Arizona rehabbing. Davis was added to the 40-man roster in September in a procedural move, having spent the entire season with Triple-A Tacoma.
