Seattle Mariners to celebrate Rick Rizzs Farewell Weekend in September

The Seattle Mariners are going to send legendary broadcaster Rick Rizzs off with a bang – literally and figuratively.

The team announced Tuesday that it will celebrate Rick Rizzs Farewell Weekend during its final three games of the regular season on Sept. 25-27 against the Los Angeles Angels, which will be the last regular season games of Rizzs’ 41 years on the mic in Seattle.

Friday, Sept. 25 will kick the festivities off with Rick Rizzs Fireworks Night – that’s where the literal bang comes into play – with a postgame fireworks show honoring Rizzs open to all fans in attendance.

Saturday, Sept. 26 will see Rizzs throw out the first pitch prior to the 6:40 p.m. start.

And Sunday, Sept. 27 will be Rick Rizzs Celebration Day. Fans will receive Rick Rizzs placards as they enter T-Mobile Park, a “Salute to Rick” will celebrate him throughout the game, and there is also an online ticket special for fans to buy seats that come with a special Rick Rizzs T-shirt.

Rizzs announced prior to this season that it would be his final on the call. It is his 52nd season as a professional baseball broadcaster. The longtime voice of the Mariners Radio Network, including on flagship station Seattle Sports, Rizzs is the longest-tenured broadcaster in Mariners history. He is set to go into the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2027, joining his former broadcast partner Dave Niehaus as the only non-uniformed members of the franchise to receive the honor.
