Seahawks Injury Updates: The latest on Price and Darnold

X-rays came back negative for Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price, head coach Mike Macdonald said after the rookie first-round draft pick exited with a chest injury during the team’s 31-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reported that Price will undergo more testing on Monday, but that “there’s optimism he avoided any significant injury.”

Price rushed for 52 yards on 13 carries. His last touch was an 8-yard reception late in the third quarter and he was listed as questionable to return early in the fourth.

Emanuel Wilson ran for a team-high 92 yards on 21 carries for Seattle, including 58 yards on 12 carries while Price was sidelined in the fourth quarter. George Holani chipped in 13 yards on four carries. Seattle finished with 162 rushing yards on 40 carries.

Meanwhile, nose tackle Brandon Pili exited the game with a concussion.

Darnold update

Asked after the game, Macdonald said there’s “a chance” starting quarterback Sam Darnold returns to practice this week.

Darnold suffered a glute injury on the opening series of Seattle’s Week 1 win over the New England Patriots and has been sidelined ever since. Backup Drew Lock started the Seahawks’ win over Arizona.

“We’re optimistic,” Macdonald said. “We’ll see. I mean, I think there’s a chance that he comes back and practices (this week) at some point.”

Macdonald indicated it’s far too early to know whether Darnold has a chance to play next Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

“I’ll say it’s possible,” Macdonald said. “We’ll see.”
