Wyman: Seahawks show ‘definition of complementary football’ vs Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks did a little bit of it all during their 31-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

They moved the ball efficiently and hit big plays on offense behind a balanced attack that featured backup quarterback Drew Lock throwing for three TDs – all to Jaxon Smith-Njigba – and 235 yards and a 162-yard team performance on the ground.

They smothered Arizona’s offense, allowing just 151 total yards and 3.2 yards play.

And they mostly avoided mistakes, losing one fumble but also committing seven less penalties for 72 less yards than a week prior in their season opener.

It all added up to “an amazing game from start to finish,” Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman said. You can see his full reaction to the game below.

Total dominance. After (Trey) McBride caught his first three or four passes, it just slowed down for (the Cardinals). And then JSN, what can you say about him? I don’t think that there’s enough you can say about JSN with the three touchdowns.

Here’s another thing I really liked, is that for Drew Lock, he did not turn the ball over once again and threw 3 touchdowns. And again, he was 73% in completion percentage. So, he’s just been fantastic.

And then I was saying this during the broadcast that this is the definition of complementary football, is that you don’t have to sling it all over the yard if your defense is keeping you in it. I love the emergence of (running back) Emanuel Wilson, who just had a great game. This is an offense that put up 381 yards. They only gave up 151 yards (on) 3.2 per play… I really like the way this season is starting and the Seahawks looked really good and solid in just about every way possible.
