Front Office Sports has reported that the NFL finance and ownership policy committees voted unanimously Wednesday to recommend that the sale of the team by the estate of Paul G. Allen be approved.

A one-day meeting is set to be held next Wednesday, Aug. 26 in Atlanta, where the league’s owners will vote on whether to approve the Seahawks sale. At least 24 of the 32 NFL owners must vote yes for the deal to be approved.

Per Front Office Sports, the record $9.612 billion sale of the Seahawks is expected to close officially in September.

Vinod Khosla founded the venture capital firm Khosla Ventures and has a net worth of $13.8 billion, according to Forbes. It has been reported that Neeru Khosla, who is married to Vinod, will be named the controlling owner of the Seahawks after the sale goes through. Their son Neal Khosla, the CEO of artificial intelligence company Curai, is expected to have a key role in the Seahawks’ leadership.

The Seahawks have been run by team chair Jody Allen since the death of her brother Paul Allen death in 2018. Paul Allen bought the Seahawks in 2017. Seattle won both of its Super Bowl titles under the ownership of Paul Allen and his estate.
