SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

The champion Seahawks’ team rating in Madden is complete disrespect

The Seahawks' team rating and overall ranking in the upcoming Madden NFL 27 video game is utterly ridiculous.

Ratings for the upcoming Madden NFL 27 video game have been revealed throughout the week, and at first it seemed like things were hunky dory with the Seattle Seahawks following their Super Bowl championship in February.

Seahawks’ Darnold uninterested in narratives, focused on defending title

Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba joined the exclusive “99 Club” on Tuesday when he was revealed to be a 99 overall rating in the game.

Things took a turn Thursday, though, when cornerback Devon Witherspoon was the only member of Seattle’s talented defense to be ranked in the top 10 at his position in the game.

Turns out Madden was saving the worst for last, because Friday’s reveal takes the cake. The Seahawks, who went a combined 17-3 between the 2025 regular season and playoffs to win it all, aren’t the top-rated team in the game. Believe it or not, they’re not even in the top five. Brace yourself: they’re No. 10.

Excuse me?

If you don’t believe what you just read, take a look at this graphic for proof:

Interesting bit of wording above the graphic in the social media post, too.

“What changes would you make?”

Well, for starters, probably spell the name of the defending Super Bowl champions right. If the graphic has been deleted by the time you read this, just know they missed the typo of Seattle Seawhawks – with an errant ‘w’ before the ‘h’ – before publishing.

Listen, I’m a writer, so I know typos happen. But man oh man, just pile on the disrespect why don’t you?

Truly, it’s hard to even decide what’s the worst part of this egregious rating of the Seahawks. Is it that they’re the same 84 overall rating as the Kansas City Chiefs, who went 6-11 last year? Is it that they’re ranked below the New England Patriots, who they shut out through three quarters in the Super Bowl and beat by over two touchdowns? Is is that the Los Angeles Rams – of course it’s the offseason darling Rams – are the No. 1 team at a whopping 91 overall rating?

Those are all bad, but my vote goes to the Seahawks being ranked not even the second-best team in the NFC West, but as the third! You’ve gotta be kidding, Madden. You think the San Francisco 49ers, who the Seahawks beat 41-6 in the playoffs in January, are the better team? Hey, good luck with that!

Seattle Sports’ Cameron Van Til spelled out why this Seahawks snub by Madden seems so far off base:

The only good thing likely to come out of this is that it seems destined to be bulletin board material for the defending champs. You know, it’s kinda hard to put a chip on your shoulder for motivation after winning it all, but I think Madden just gave the Seahawks some serious help in that regard.
