3 things that stand out to Wyman at Seahawks training camp

What’s stood out so far? Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman discussed three things he’s noticed.

EJ’s leadership

Linebacker Ernest Jones IV has been an instrumental part of Seattle’s defensive success since arriving in a 2024 midseason trade. Last year, he totaled 151 tackles and six interceptions over both the regular season and postseason, which made him just the third NFL linebacker since 2000 to hit both those marks in the same season.

And in addition to his on-field performance, Jones also has emerged as a de facto team captain. That was strikingly evident last November, when he delivered a passionate defense of quarterback Sam Darnold following the Seahawks’ narrow Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last year. It also was evident to Wyman on the practice field.

“He’s just such a leader out there,” Wyman said. “Today, the second-string defense was on the field and they got (a pick-six), and EJ puts his helmet on and runs down there like 70 yards down there with him. So, great leader there.”

Bradford’s power

Right guard Anthony Bradford has a well-documented history of up-and-down play over his three seasons in Seattle. But one thing that’s never been in doubt is sheer power Bradford can generate with his 6-foot-4, 335-pound frame. That stood out to Wyman while watching the Seahawks’ offensive line go through sled drills.

“It’s amazing how much power he has,” Wyman said. “At one point, he kind of picked up the sled like it was a toy. He’s just incredibly strong.”

‘They look hungry’

Similar to the team’s on-field intensity this spring, Wyman said there haven’t been any signs of a Super Bowl hangover. The Seahawks have talked about embracing a “run it forward” mentality this offseason, and that approach has been clear to Wyman during camp.

“They look hungry,” Wyman said. “It doesn’t look like they just won the Super Bowl. They’re out here practicing really hard.”
