Seahawks star JSN joins Madden’s exclusive ’99 Club’

The accolades keep rolling in for Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Coming off his record-setting 2025 campaign, Smith-Njigba was announced on Monday as one of six players to receive the highest-possible 99 overall rating for the ‘Madden NFL 27’ video game.

Even after title, Seahawks may still be an ‘ascending’ team

The other members of this year’s Madden ’99 Club’ are Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Rams defensive end Myles Garrett, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.

Smith-Njigba is the fourth player in Seahawks history to receive a 99 overall Madden rating heading into a season, joining Hall of Fame left tackle Walter Jones (Madden 07), cornerback Richard Sherman (Madden 15) and linebacker Bobby Wagner (Madden 20). Former longtime Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson began the 2021 season with a 97 overall rating and was upgraded to 99 a few weeks into the campaign.

Smith-Njigba was named the 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year after piling up a league-high and franchise-record 1,793 receiving yards last season, which was the eighth-most in a single season in league history. He became just the third NFL player to eclipse 1,700 receiving yards in a season at age 23 or younger, and he also tallied a franchise-record 119 receptions and 10 touchdown catches.

Smith-Njigba finished with 1,992 receiving yards across both the regular season and postseason, which was the third-highest mark in NFL history. He had a massive performance in the NFC Championship game, hauling in 10 catches for 153 yards and a TD to propel the Seahawks past the archrival Rams 31-27 en route to their franchise’s second Super Bowl title.

Smith-Njigba then signed a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension with Seattle in March that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
