UW women land former 5-star recruit in transfer portal

The UW Huskies women’s basketball team picked up a commitment from a former five-star recruit on Saturday.

Kentucky forward Kaelyn Carroll announced she’s transferring to UW on her Instagram account, becoming the fourth transfer portal commit for head coach Tina Langley and the Huskies.

The 6-foot-3 Carroll appeared in 34 games while helping the Wildcats reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament this past season. She averaged 3.4 points and 2.2 rebounds over 11.9 minutes per game. Carroll shot 35% from the field and 30.9% from 3-point range. She scored a career-high 18 points in Kentucky’s 96-53 win over Wright State on Dec. 10, 2025.

Prior to committing to Kentucky, Carroll was a five-star prospect and the 27th-ranked recruit in the country coming out of Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass., according to 247sports’ composite rankings. She also had offers from South Carolina, Tennessee and Ohio State, among others.

Carroll was named a 2024-25 McDonald’s All-American during her senior year of high school.

Carroll joins a group of incoming transfers for UW that includes North Carolina State forward Tilda Trygger, Oklahoma State guard Macey Huard and Colorado State guard Brooke Carlson.

The Huskies finished 22-11 last season, including 10-8 in Big Ten play, while reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
