Standout UW Huskies sophomore guard Zoom Diallo announced on social media Friday he plans to enter the transfer portal.

Diallo, a former four-star prospect from Tacoma and one one of the highest-rated recruits in program history, said he is keeping the option of returning to UW open.

Diallo led the Huskies in assists and was second in scoring while appearing in all 33 games and making 29 starts this season. He scored 20 or more points eight times, including in four of UW’s final five games.

Diallo averaged 15.7 points, 4.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 29.6 minutes per game. The 6-foot-4 guard shot 48.9% from the field, 31.5% from beyond the arc and 82.5% from the free-throw line.

The Curtis High School product made noticeable strides as a shooter and playmaker this year, nearly doubling both his 3-point shooting percentage and assists per game from his freshman season.

Diallo was the fifth-ranked point guard and 42nd-ranked player nationally in the class of 2024, according to 247sports. He’s the eighth-highest ranked signee in program history.

Diallo’s announcement came just hours after ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello reported freshman point guard and prized class of 2025 recruit JJ Mandaquit intends to enter the transfer portal. Former four-star freshman guard Courtland Muldrew also announced he will enter the transfer portal earlier this week.

On top of the three transfers, star freshman forward and projected first-round NBA draft pick Hannes Steinbach is expected to leave school to turn pro.

The transfer portal opens for a 15-day window starting April 7.

The Huskies went 16-17 overall and finished tied for 12th in the 18-team Big Ten at 7-13 in conference play.
