The UW Huskies landed a commitment from 2026 four-star quarterback recruit Derek Zammit, according to a report from On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett on Saturday morning.
Zammit, is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound signal caller from DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, New Jersey. He’s ranked by On3 as the No. 18 quarterback in the 2026 high school class. 247Sports’ composite rankings have him as the No. 26 QB in the class.
According to Fawcett, Zammit chose the Huskies over Alabama, Syracuse and Mississippi State.
Zammit, who played in the Under Armour All-American Game in January, led DePaul Catholic to an 11-1 record and the New Jersey Non-Public B state championship last season as a junior. He completed 67.9% of his passes for 2,582 yards, 35 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He also rushed for 560 yards and six TDs.

“Gritty signal caller that lacks elite physical traits, but one that finds ways to get the job done with his ball placement, pocket mobility and sound decision-making,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote on Jan. 2.
“Might not project as a high-volume passer at this stage,” Ivins added, “and will likely need a year or two to adjust to the speed of the collegiate game, but has some of what’s required to eventually win games at the Power Four level as he’s the type of quarterback that can limit mistakes and keep an offense on schedule while still creating unexpected opportunities.”
By the time Zammit is slated to arrive on Montlake in 2026, presumptive 2025 UW starting QB Demond Williams Jr. would be entering his junior season.
The Huskies are currently ranked No. 27 in 247Sports’ class of 2026 recruiting rankings. Their 2025 class ranks No. 23.
