The Seahawks have had yet another lengthy list of names on their injury reports from practice so far this week, and while they aren’t completely healthy, they will get an influx of talent for Sunday’s game at Buffalo.

Clayton: Why Seahawks were best off not making big moves at pass rush

The Seahawks’ head coach had updates on the statuses of four players Friday morning on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM’s The Pete Carroll Show. Here’s a look at what he had to say:

Jamal Adams, safety

Adams, who has been out since suffering a groin strain in Week 3, has made it through the first two days of the Seahawks’ practice week without any issues.

“He’s had a great week. He was really ready to go,” Carroll told Dave Wyman.

There was a chance of Adams making it back in time for Seattle’s Week 8 game against San Francisco, but an illness prevented him from getting in the necessary work to make sure his groin was fully recovered. That setback allowed him a much more clear path to playing this Sunday, however, and Carroll had mentioned Monday on 710 ESPN Seattle that it was fully expected that the star safety would return against the Bills.

What to expect with Jamal Adams returning to the Seahawks’ defense

Chris Carson, running back

The Seahawks’ leading rusher missed the game against the 49ers with a foot sprain suffered the week before in Arizona, and Carroll said he was no guarantee to play Sunday, either.

“We’re waiting to see what happens, how Chris Carson feels after working on this Friday, see how he is,” Carroll said.

It turned out the Seahawks didn’t see what they were looking for. Carson was ruled out for the game on the team’s injury report released Friday afternoon, as was backup Carlos Hyde, who was also out against the 49ers with a hamstring injury.

Update: Seahawks rule out six for Bills game

Carlos Dunlap, defensive end

Though not an injury concern, Dunlap has yet to make his Seahawks debut after being acquired last week in a trade with the Bengals and sitting out Week 8 due to the NFL’s protocols for coronavirus intake testing. He won’t have to wait any longer to put on a Seattle uniform, though.

“Dunlap looks like he made it through and he’s ready to go,” Carroll said.

The Seahawks are going to need Dunlap, too. Benson Mayowa, Seattle’s top defensive end this season, was ruled out Friday for the second straight week due to an ankle injury.

Shaquill Griffin, cornerback

Finally, Griffin was a long shot to make it back from a pair of injuries that he suffered in Week 7 and kept him out of the game against San Francisco.

“It’s gonna be hard for Shaquill to get back out there coming off a concussion and a hamstring,” Carroll said. “There’s a few guys we won’t have, but our guys stepped up really well last week. We’ll count on that again.”

Griffin was confirmed to be out on the injury report Friday afternoon.

Griffin, the Seahawks’ starting left cornerback, has two interceptions, seven passes defensed and 34 tackles (28 solo) in six games.

The Friday edition of The Pete Carroll Show airs at 8:15 a.m. on KIRO 97.3 FM’s Seattle’s Morning News and at 4:30 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle’s Bob, Dave and Moore. You can find podcasts of the weekly interview here or listen to this week’s edition below.
