We know how the reaction to Richard Sherman joining the 49ers is going in Seattle. But what about in San Francisco?

Lorenzo Neal, a former standout fullback in the NFL who now co-hosts Mornings with Joe, Lo and Dibs on San Francisco’s 95.7 FM The Game, joined 710 ESPN Seattle’s John Clayton to talk about the feeling in the Bay Area about the former archrival of the Niners jumping ship from the Seahawks.

Sherman found a landing spot where he can make Seahawks pay

“We had mixed emotions on our show today just about Richard Sherman,” Neal said Monday morning. “Is this guy going to be a cancer in the locker room? Is he going to coexist?”

That’s an understandable concern to have considering how Sherman was at times a lightning rod with the Seahawks. It’s also worth mentioning that Sherman was essentially public enemy No. 1 in San Francisco after he made an important interception in the end zone of the NFC Championship game in January 2014 and followed up with a headline-making interview and criticisms of then-San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

How Sherman will fit in the 49ers’ locker room isn’t the only question about his move to San Francisco. There’s also the fact that he’ll be 30 years old by the start of the 2018 season and coming off separate surgeries on each of his Achilles.

“The biggest thing Niner fans also want to know, is this guy going to be durable enough?” Neal said. “Can he come back? Of course he’s had a Hall of Fame type of career, sure Sherman’s played at a very, very high level. He locks down a corner of the field the way that he’s able to play, but can he bounce back from an Achilles injury?”

You can hear the full interview with Neal in this podcast of Clayton’s show.
