The Seattle Seahawks’ wide receiver room took a hit during Sunday’s 27-10 win over the Carolina Panthers with Rashid Shaheed and Cody White both exiting the game with injuries.

Shaheed was hurt late in the first quarter on a first-down reception where he was drug down by Carolina cornerback and former Seahawk Mike Jackson as he went out of bounds. Shaheed suffered a concussion on the play and did not return. He was officially ruled out in the third quarter.
White exited on the opening drive of the game with a groin injury suffered on Carolina’s first punt. He was initially ruled as doubtful following the injury and did not return.
Regarding White’s injury, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said after the game it’s “probably gonna be some time with Cody.”
With Shaheed and White out, the Seahawks were down to just four healthy receivers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Dareke Young and Jake Bobo. Running back Cam Akers took over Shaheed’s kick returning duties.
Shaheed’s 8-yard reception in the first quarter was the only catch by a Seahawks wide receiver other than Smith-Njigba until Cooper Kupp’s 6-yard catch with 12:09 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Shaheed and White could have one less day to recover from their injuries before Seattle’s NFC West showdown against the San Francisco 49ers next week. Two Week 18 games that have yet to be determined will be played Saturday. The NFL will announce the Week 18 schedule following the conclusion of this week’s games.
Seattle is also still without rookie wide receiver Tory Horton. The fifth-round pick was placed on injured reserve with a shin injury Nov. 22.
The Seahawks improved to 13-3 with the win on Sunday to maintain their hold on the NFC’s top seed for the playoffs. The 13 wins are tied with Seattle’s 2005 and 2013 teams for the most in the regular season in franchise history.
