Super Bowl champs! Seahawks beat Patriots for their second title
For the second time in franchise history, the Seattle Seahawks have won the Super Bowl. And just like the first time, they led from the opening drive until the clock hit zero.

When the Seattle Seahawks win it all, they don’t leave any doubt.
For the second time in history, the Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions. And just like their Super Bowl 48 victory, the Hawks led from the first series until the clock hit zero in a defensively-dominant 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday night.

Seattle put together one of the most impressive Super Bowl performances by a defense ever, giving the offense plenty of opportunity to build a lead that grew increasingly comfortable throughout the night.
The Seahawks relied on field goals for the majority of the game, but late in the third quarter, they broke through.
Super Bowl highlights: How Seahawks built 9-0 lead in first half
Derick Hall forced a fumble by Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, which was recovered by Byron Murphy II to give Seattle its best field position of the night at the New England 37. Former Super Bowl MVP-winning wide receiver Cooper Kupp made a big reception on third-and-9, and on the next play Sam Darnold threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to a wide open A.J. Barner that put the Seahawks up 19-0 early in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots didn’t go away right then, though, responding with their first points of the day on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Maye to Mack Hollins with about 12 1/2 minutes left on the clock.
But that didn’t stop Seattle from continuing to put space between itself and New England. Julian Love intercepted Maye to end a promising Patriots drive, setting up kicker Jason Myers’ Super Bowl-record fifth field goal to make it 22-7.
And on the next New England possession, star cornerback Devon Witherspoon hit Maye as he attempted to throw, with the ball falling into the waiting arms of veteran pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu, who ran it 44 yards to the house to make it a commanding 22-point advantage for Seattle with about four minutes to go before the Seahawks would raise the Lombardi Trophy for the second time ever and first time in a dozen years.

Sunday marked the fourth Super Bowl appearance for the Seahawks, who have now made it to the final game of the season all four times they have been the No. 1 seed from the NFC in the postseason.
With the victory, the Seahawks delivered redemption against the franchise that prevented them from a repeat title in the big game 11 years ago in agonizing fashion.
The last time the Seahawks played in the Super Bowl, it was also against New England – and it’s a memory most Seattle fans wanted to forget. The Seahawks were a yard away from taking the lead with 26 seconds to go in Super Bowl 49, only for Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler to intercept Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in the end zone to help seal a 28-24 victory for New England in perhaps the most painful play in Seattle sports history.
There were no critical mistakes for the Seahawks this time, however, as they capped off a remarkable second season under head coach Mike Macdonald with a championship. Seattle hired Macdonald, the former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, in January 2024 just weeks after parting ways with legendary coach Pete Carroll, the architect of the Legion of Boom defense that led the Seahawks to their Super Bowl 48 victory and a trip back to the title game the very next year.
Macdonald led the Hawks to a 10-7 record as a rookie coach in 2024, but they just missed out on the playoffs, and hopes for the Seahawks in 2025 weren’t that high going into the season after general manager John Schneider made some drastic moves. That included making a change at offensive coordinator, trading quarterback Geno Smith and star wide receiver DK Metcalf, and signing Darnold in free agency to be the new QB. But those moves, as well as some strong recent drafts and midseason trades in recent years, proved to be quite valuable as the Seahawks won 14 games in a single season for the first time and Schneider earned his first NFL Executive of the Year award.
Darnold excelled in the offense under first-year Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak. Third-year wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba emerged as the best in the world, breaking the Seahawks’ single-season record and leading the NFL in receiving yards on his way to earning NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors. And an incredible defense dubbed the “Dark Side” garnered three All-Pro selections after holding opposing offenses to a league-low 17.2 points per game.
The Seahawks finish the season on a 10-game win streak. That includes their demolishing of the rival San Francisco 49ers by a score of 41-6 in the NFC Divisional Round and an NFC Championship victory of 31-27 over another division rival, the Los Angeles Rams, who were the last team to beat Seattle all the way back on Nov. 16.
The future is bright in Seattle, too, with the 28-year-old Darnold under contract for two more years, a number of young players established at key positions, and an advantageous salary cap situation going forward.

Nah, that's still the Niners and Chargers bowl despite the Patriots being the most fraudulent team to get to the Super Bowl. It's a shame that we didn't get to play the Broncos.
Patriots lucked way in w/ weak schedule & Nix injury... worst superbowl ever.
