Brock: Proof Super Bowl champion Seahawks are making gains
Here are the three takeaways that stood out to the former NFL quarterback from the reigning Super Bowl champion Hawks.
No. 1: Intensity
“Seattle Sports’ Dave Wyman said it to us on our radio show this week, like, man, these guys are getting after it. It is a lot of 11-on-11, it’s a lot of scrimmaging, it’s a ton of situation, and I would say that intensity is real. And just the healthy competition – defense wins some, offense wins some. It was kind of right where I’m sure (Seahawks coach) Mike Macdonald wanted it.”
No. 2: The quarterback
“Sam Darnold is awesome. I mean, one year ago from right now, I don’t think any of us knew Sam Darnold would turn out to what he ended up being: a Super Bowl champion. But you watch him out here and you watch the precision, the timing, the accuracy, the command – he’s the general. This is his team and everybody knows it. And that’s a nice place to be for a franchise.”
No. 3: Authenticity
“Authenticity is not a word you hear a lot in football, but it is with Mike Macdonald and this team. And I can’t wait for ‘Hard Knocks.’ They’re going to get to feel the genuine, authentic nature that starts with (Seahawks president of football operations/general manager John Schneider), trickles down to Mike and filters down over the whole rest of this program.”
Catch Huard on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk weekdays from 6-10 a.m.
