Seahawks WR Dareke Young signs with Kubiak’s Raiders

Klint Kubiak is bringing a Seattle Seahawks wide receiver to Las Vegas, just not the one many had expected when he initially left to become the head coach of the Raiders.

The Raiders announced they signed Dareke Young to a contract on Friday. Specifics of the deal were not announced.

Young, 26, was a seventh-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2022 NFL Draft. He became an unrestricted free agent when the new league year began at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

A product of NCAA Division-II Lenoir-Rhyne University, Young made his biggest contributions as a key special teams player in his four years with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-2, 224-pound wide receiver played at least 150 special teams snaps in three seasons, including a career-high 231 in 2024. He had 24 tackles as a Seahawk.

As a receiver, Young has just four receptions for 72 yards on six targets during his career.

Young is the first player from this past season’s Seahawks team to sign with Kubiak’s Raiders. He’s also the fifth Seahawks unrestricted free agent to sign with a new team, joining running back Kenneth Walker III, edge rusher Boye Mafe, cornerback Riq Woolen and safety Coby Bryant. Seattle re-signed unrestricted free agents cornerback Josh Jobe, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed and offensive tackle Josh Jones.

Before signing with the Raiders, Young was one of just three unrestricted free agents from the Seahawks still on the market. The others are linebacker Chazz Surratt and wide receiver Cody White. White was originally a restricted free agent but was not tendered by the team.
