A day after activating wide receiver Irv Charles from injured reserve and moving running back Velus Jones Jr. to the practice squad, the Seattle Seahawks reversed course.

On Wednesday, Seattle signed Jones back to its 53-man roster, released Charles and then re-signed Charles to the practice squad.

Neither Charles or Jones were subject to waivers due to being vested veterans, per the team’s website.

Jones, 29, has appeared in four games for the Seahawks this season with all but two of his 63 snaps played coming on special teams. He has returned two kickoffs for 40 yards and made two tackles. He hasn’t logged any offensive stats.

Jones carried the ball four times for 32 yards over three games for Seattle last season.

The 29-year-old Charles is expected to make an impact for Seattle on special teams as a gunner. Over 25 total games between the 2023 and ’24 seasons with the Jets, he logged 450 snaps, 14 tackles and a blocked punt on special teams. He has played just 53 career offensive snaps and has zero catches on two targets.

Charles, who has yet to make his Seahawks debut since being acquired in a May trade from the Jets, suffered a torn ACL in December 2024 that forced him to miss the final four games of the season and of 2025. He began this year on IR with an undisclosed injury before being designated to return to practice last Wednesday.

Charles could still make his debut with the team if he is elevated from the practice squad for its contest against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
