Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak appears in line to become the Las Vegas Raiders’ next head coach, according to reports from ESPN and NFL Network on Sunday morning.

With the Seahawks playing in the Super Bowl next Sunday, no deal between Kubiak and the Raiders can be finalized until after the game.

“Klint Kubiak wants to coach the Raiders, and they want him to be their head coach,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on social media. “Now it’s only a matter of time before the two sides can formalize a deal.”

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the Raiders are “zeroing in” on Kubiak as their next head coach and that “all signs are pointing toward Kubiak landing in Las Vegas.”

Kubiak, 38, would replace legendary former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. Carroll, 74, was fired last month after going 3-14 in his lone season as the Raiders’ head coach.

Kubiak was a popular candidate during this year’s NFL head coaching cycle. He reportedly held virtual interviews with six teams during the Seahawks’ first-round playoff bye week last month and then reportedly had second interviews on Saturday with the Raiders and Arizona Cardinals – the final two teams that have yet to fill their head coach opening.

Per NFL rules, Sunday is the final day NFL teams are allowed to interview assistants who are coaching in the Super Bowl.

Under Kubiak, the Seahawks finished third in the NFL with 28.4 points per game this season – although that includes four special teams touchdowns and three defensive touchdowns. But even excluding those seven non-offensive scores, the Seahawks averaged 25.5 points per game, which would rank 11th in the league.

The Seahawks also finished 11th in points per drive (2.32), sixth in yards per play (5.9) and second in yards per pass attempt (8.4). They allowed just 27 sacks, which was their third-lowest total in franchise history. And their rushing attack found its stride down the stretch, with Seattle ranking 11th in yards per carry (4.5) from Weeks 10-18.

Kubiak received ample praise for his play-calling in last Sunday’s NFC title game after devising a game plan that helped Sam Darnold and the Seahawks outduel Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams 31-27 to reach the Super Bowl.

If Kubiak leaves, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will be tasked with hiring his third offensive coordinator in as many years. Former UW Huskies offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb served as Seattle’s OC in 2024, but was let go after one up-and-down season. The Seahawks then hired Kubiak as Grubb’s replacement in January 2025.

If Kubiak departs, it’s unknown what impact that would have on the rest of Seattle’s offensive coaching staff – which includes offensive line coach John Benton, run game coordinator/senior offensive advisor Rick Dennison and run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach Justin Outten.

Kubiak and his offensive assistants have been instrumental in fixing the Seahawks’ long-struggling offensive line and getting the team’s ground game untracked.
