With Packers win, Seahawks playing for No. 3 seed against 49ers
The Seahawks will not have a first-round playoff bye, but they can still win the NFC West and host a playoff game next week by beating the 49ers.

It looked at first like the Seahawks were going to get a gift from former offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s Detroit Lions when they hopped out to an early lead against the Green Bay Packers, but Aaron Rodgers and company were able to claw back and take the 23-20 victory.

A Packers loss had the potential to be a big gift for the Seahawks, 11-4, as a Green Bay loss coupled with a Seattle victory would have given the Seahawks the NFC’s second seed and a first-round playoff bye.
The Lions had a 17-3 lead at halftime but struggled to add on in the second half. They scored just 3 second half points to the Packers’ 20, and a Mason Crosby field goal at the buzzer gave the Packers the win and a first-round playoff bye.
With that result, the Seahawks can, at best, get the conference’s third seed. To get that, Seattle needs to beat the 12-3 San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West on Sunday Night Football.
When these two teams last faced off in Week 10, the Seahawks won an overtime thriller 27-24 in San Francisco. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was by far the best player on the field, as he was a terror in the San Francisco backfield and won NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his stellar play. He also got hurt in that game and has missed three games since, but he will be active in the Week 17 prime time matchup.
If Seattle has the No. 3 seed, they would host a game next weekend against the No. 6 seed Minnesota Vikings, who Seattle beat at home on Monday Night Football 37-30 in Week 13.
A Seattle loss would give them the No. 5 seed and they would travel Philadelphia to take on the 9-7 Eagles, who wrapped up the NFC East with a 34-17 win over the New York Giants in Week 17.
The Seahawks played in Philadelphia earlier this season and beat the Eagles 17-10.
