But they also have some important business to take care of in the very near future.
With 2025 Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak now officially the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, Macdonald & Co. are tasked with hiring their third OC in as many years.
What will the Seahawks be looking for in their new offensive coordinator? Macdonald was asked that question during his post-Super Bowl conversation with Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk on Tuesday morning.
“I think a really important part of what we want to do is have continuity,” Macdonald said. “And part of our vision here is that we want to have the Seattle Seahawks system, that’s gonna evolve over time, and it’s gonna be our system. And ultimately, we want to be a place where we can create an environment where, if we do a great job and we do what we’re supposed to do, we can create opportunities for our own people and keep growing our people.
“But that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna augment our staff from people that are out there. I mean, we’re always gonna do that. But right now, that’s where my mind is.”
If the Seahawks choose to hire from within, some potential in-house candidates they could promote include run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach Justin Outten, passing game coordinator Jake Peetz and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko.
But it’s unclear how many of Seattle’s offensive assistants will follow Kubiak to Las Vegas.
“It’s a tricky thing, because on one hand you want your people to have great opportunities and to grow their career, and that’s a big part of what we want to be about,” Macdonald said. “And we’re also about creating the best possible team that we can have and putting ourselves in position to be consistent and be great and it’s about us as an organization as well.
“And I’ll tell you this about Klint. He’s been phenomenal with the whole (thing). He is a team player through and through. He’s just been great to work with. And so we’ll work together on it, and I think we’ve got a situation here where everybody can win.”
