Instant Reaction: The Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl

The Seattle Seahawks are headed back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years after beating the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night in the NFC Championship.

THE SEAHAWKS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

In a stunning development, it’s because Sam Darnold and the offense bailed out the defense. Who would have thought? Darnold played his best game of the season, without question! He went 25 for 36 for 346 yards, three TDs, and most importantly zero turnovers. He made one great pass, one great decision after another. I’m not sure if that silences his critics, but I don’t think he cares.

Kenneth Walker III and Jaxon Smith-Njigba both came up with a boatload of clutch, crucial plays when the team needed them most. The same is true for Cooper Kupp, who came up with his first TD at Lumen Field as a member of the Seahawks, and Jake Bobo with a TD grab as well.

The defense played their second-worst game of the season (statistically speaking), but this was a day that the offense had their back, and that’s what great teams do. They find a way to win regardless of what is or is not working. Absolutely amazing to see this team one win away from lifting their second Lombardi Trophy!

For all the questions and all the “Can Darnold do it in a big game?” he delivered in resounding fashion. That was the performance of the year, in the biggest moment of his career, and the Seahawks are going back to the Super Bowl because of it.

Darnold found his receivers on third down all night, and the third-down conversion difference between the two teams might be the single biggest reason why the Seahawks are headed to the Super Bowl.

The defense has carried them all year, but tonight it was Darnold and the offense getting the job done.

A resounding conclusion for the best team in the NFC.
