Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet has a late-July check-up scheduled and is “progressing well” in his recovery from a torn ACL, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported Monday on social media.

Disrespect of Super Bowl champion Seahawks ‘getting ridiculous’

Fowler’s report echoes Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald’s comments at minicamp earlier this month, when he said Charbonnet was doing a “great job” in his recovery.

Charbonnet suffered the injury in Seattle’s divisional round playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 17 and underwent surgery on Feb. 20. He did some conditioning work during minicamp, according to The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta.

The general assumption has been that Charbonnet will miss the first part of the 2026 season, given the typical recovery timeline for ACL tears. But at minicamp earlier this month, Macdonald didn’t entirely rule out the possibility of an early return. Asked if there’s a chance Charbonnet could be ready by Week 1, Macdonald smiled and said, “Everything’s possible.”

Charbonnet rushed for 730 yards, 4.0 yards per carry and a team-high 12 touchdowns last season while splitting carries with eventual Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who departed in free agency for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Following Charbonnet’s injury and Walker’s departure, the Seahawks spent their first-round draft pick in April on Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price. Fowler added in his report Monday that the Seahawks have been “impressed” by Price’s open-field vision this spring.

People who say that "anything is possible" on a early return from an ACL injury are ignorant....never happens....it is a good 11-13 month full recovery.....
