Emmanwori inactive, 3 added off PS for Seahawks vs Patriots

Standout safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) and wide receiver Tory Horton (hamstring) are both inactive for the Seattle Seahawks’ season-opening Super Bowl rematch against the New England Patriots on Wednesday night.

With safety Ty Okada (hamstring) already ruled out, the Seahawks signed safety AJ Finley off the practice squad to the 53-man roster and elevated safety Rodney Thomas II from the practice squad. Finley and Thomas joined starter Julian Love to give Seattle three active safeties.

The Seahawks also elevated running back Velus Jones Jr. from the practice squad. They waived backup guard Bryce Cabeldue to make room for Finley on the 53-man roster.

Emmanwori and Horton were both listed as questionable on Tuesday’s game status report after they were limited in practice this week. Emmanwori is working back from July ankle surgery, while Horton is dealing with a hamstring injury he sustained in training camp.

Thomas, who signed with Seattle in March, started 26 games for the Indianapolis Colts from 2022-25. Finley, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, has 75 career defensive snaps over two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and Seahawks from 2023-24.

Seattle’s other inactives are defensive lineman Mike Morris, tight end Nick Kallerup and offensive guard Beau Stephens. Third-string quarterback Jalen Milroe will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
